Welcome to Hyde High School
We are delighted that your child has been offered a place at Hyde High School and we are really looking forward to welcoming you to our school community. Hopefully your child is enjoying the last few weeks of primary school and looking forward to moving on to high school in September. Our transition team is putting plans together and liaising with primary schools to ensure that your child makes a smooth transition to Hyde.
There are some upcoming transition events as detailed below and we also invite you to visit our website where there is further useful information.
Thursday 22nd June 2023
We understand that moving on from Primary to Secondary education can feel like a big step both for children and their families and as the first phase in this exciting transition we are delighted to invite you and your child to our ‘Moving Up’ information evening. This will be held in school on 22nd June 2023 and will run from 5pm to 6.30pm. You are welcome to call in at any time during this session and we would recommend that you allow at least forty five minutes for your visit.
The evening will be an opportunity to meet school staff who will play a key role in your child’s successful transition to our school. There will be a twenty minute presentation at 5.30pm to outline our expectations and to explain how we will support your child’s move to Hyde High School; this will be repeated at 6.00pm. You will also have the chance to visit our Marketplace where you can ask any questions and collect further resources including information about school uniform, behaviour, attendance, curriculum, special educational needs and pastoral support.
Thursday 6th and Friday 7th July 2023
We are really looking forward to our transition days when our new intake – our Class of 2028 - will join us for two whole days of ‘getting to know you’ activities.
Pupils should attend both transition days wearing their primary school uniform and arrive at 9am at the front entrance of school. Pupils will be met by members of our school staff and escorted to the Activities Suite for a welcome assembly.
During these transition days, pupils will meet with their form tutor and form group, have a tour of the school and join in with a range of exciting activities. Further information will be provided nearer the time.
Please check our website where, over the course of this term, you will find all of the up to date information you need to start preparing your child for this exciting next step. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.
