The first stage in your child’s transition to secondary school is our 'Moving Up Evening'. The evening is an opportunity to meet key staff who will play a role in your child’s successful transition from primary to secondary school. Here we outline our expectations and explain how we will support your child’s move to Hyde. You will have the chance to visit our Marketplace where you can ask any questions and collect further resources including information about school uniform, behaviour and attendance, curriculum, special educational needs and pastoral support. This is a drop -in evening and so you do not have to attend for the full two hours. However, you should allow 30 -45 minutes for your visit.
All year 6 students are expected to attend two New Intake Days at their new high school prior to joining in September.
Our New Intake Days take place on Thursday 2nd July 2020 and Friday 3rd July 2020 when your child will attend Hyde instead of their usual primary school.
They will experience taster lessons with year 6 pupils from other schools and begin to make friends. We hope this will make your child feel more confident about starting high school in September.
An additional day is offered to selected students where there is an identified special educational need or they are considered particularly vulnerable at transition. Those students are carefully selected by the SENDCO and Head of Year in collaboration with the primary school.
**Please note that due to Covid - 19, this years New Intake Days have been postponed and further information will be sent out in due course **
