Uniform

September Update
Our students have had a fantastic start to the school year and this will have a positive impact on students’ wellbeing and exam outcomes. We thank parents and students for supporting us in preparing for this new academic year.

We do apologise for the oversight in not making it clear in communication to parents that hoodies are not to be worn inside the school building. Students were clearly informed in assemblies in July and on return in September. Feedback from students is that they understand our expectations. However hoodies have always been an optional part of school uniform.

The reason for not wearing hoodies in school is that we want students to look as smart as possible at all times and our building is warm enough. Furthermore, student feedback is that the hoodie makes their blazer feel tight and bulky. Hoodies keep children warm on the way to and from school, and during outdoor PE lessons in the colder months.

We've made this decision as a compromise between students in years 8 to 11 still being able to arrive in PE kit, rather than getting changed on the day. Our position on this will be reviewed throughout the year.

We take pride in working in close partnership with all parents and carers in our school community and we are disappointed that our communication has not been clear enough, but again we are thankful that our parents and student have embraced this vital standards reset since this has been fundamental on the incredible success we have seen this week.

School Uniform Information | 2024-2025

Looking smart and being prepared for the school day makes up part of our ‘Ready’ rule. Students should wear their Hyde uniform with pride and we believe that looking professional and presentable is a key part of preparing students for life after school. A clear uniform policy makes this fair for all students.

Please find the information below to support you in purchasing the correct uniform items for September. Please pay particular attention to the requirement of a school rucksack or backpack that will fit in an A4 folder; handbags are not permittedSports Direct currently stock a suitable school bag for around £5.

To avoid buying any item of uniform over the summer that is not permitted, please contact [email protected] and we will be able to advise you. This email account will be checked each week.

Once students are issued with their new school planner in September, this will form part of essential equipment that must be brought to school every day.

In September, all students will have their uniform and planner checked prior to entering the school every morning, in order for us to support students in meeting our high standards.

Any students who do not have the correct uniform will be supported by being issued with the correct uniform in exchange for a deposit. Students who have wilfully arrived in incorrect uniform will be issued a one hour detention.

We appreciate all support from parents and carers in ensuring students arrive fully prepared for school each day.
