Literacy at Hyde is split in two main areas: Reading and writing. It is important that these skills become embedded through specific literacy lessons. This will then form a foundation for good reading and writing across the entire curriculum. Students at Hyde will have access to an excellent library and a structured approach that will allow them to read for pleasure, and learn practical skills to improve comprehension. As our students read wider and with more consistency, it is our hope that the increase in vocabulary will be used in their writing. Our literacy lessons focus on varied sentence use, accurate punctuation and appropriate sentence structure and paragraphing.
