Hyde High School is a local authority maintained (funded) mixed secondary school.

The Hyde High School instrument of government was made by order of Tameside MBC on 30th March 2023.
The instrument of government states that the Governing Board shall consist of 16 members:
Terms of office for Hyde High School Governors are 4-yearly.
Associate Members are not governors; they are part of the governance arrangements of the school to assist the Governing Board in its three core purposes (as detailed above) due to their expertise.
At Hyde High School the Governing Board may appoint Associate Members. Terms of office are for 4 years. Associate Members have voting rights at sub-committee level only, unless there is a conflict of interest.
