Hyde High School does not permit students to use mobile phones or mobile devices during their time in the school, which includes before school, at break, lunch and after school – mobile devices are not to be visible while in the school building at any point. Students’ mobile devices should be switched off, and kept in bags whilst on school site.
We ask that students and parents are mindful of the following:

Consequently, any student seen with a mobile phone within school, whether using it or not, will have it confiscated. The phone will be stored securely and returned after a period of 5 school days. The parent/carer may make an appointment to collect the phone after 3.00pm on the day of confiscation.

Students and parents need to be mindful that student’s mobile devices may contain electronic travel passes e.g. for the train. It is therefore imperative that in these cases students do not get their mobile device out in school if this will impact upon their ability to get home and require parents to come and pick them up.

Any student found to be using a mobile phone for any purpose considered unsuitable by the school, will have the item taken from them and further sanctions applied. Unlawful use of a mobile phone may result in police involvement.
Students are permitted to wear smart watches (though these must be removed for examinations and assessments in line with JCQ guidelines) but the school reserves the right to confiscate these if they are being misused – the protocols for confiscation of mobile phones will be followed where a smart watch is confiscated.
