Mrs. Harley earned a BSc in Environmental Biogeoscience, followed by an MSc in Geochemistry. She then worked as a Geochemist for two large environmental consulting firms, specialising in the remediation of contaminated land. Later, she pursued a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in Chemistry at the University of Leeds. Over the past 15 years, Mrs. Harley has been teaching in Tameside. During this time, she became a professional advocate, mentoring other teachers to enhance their teaching practices followed by training as a teacher educator through the Ambition Institute transforming teaching program, where she led on instructional coaching to empower teachers within her school to refine their teaching practices and drive school wide improvements. Mrs. Harley served as Head of Science for four years before taking on the same role at Hyde High School in 2023. Her leadership achievements include completing the National Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQSL) in 2021, focusing on closing attainment gaps for disadvantaged students in EBACC subjects and in 2023, completing the SSAT Leadership Programme.
